On Friday afternoon, the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) alerted the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service after hunters reported a discovery. Due to the extremely difficult terrain, the ambulance service requested assistance in reaching the location and transporting the body. OMSZ directed the mountain rescuers to head toward the Fekete Valley near Kemence, where emergency units were already working.
The Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service immediately mobilized on-call rescuers, and a four-member team departed from the Szokolya base within a short time. From Fekete Valley, they continued on foot toward the site. Although the distance was only 1,300 meters, the extremely challenging terrain significantly slowed their progress, and they arrived at the scene at nightfall.
Upon assessment, the rescue team confirmed that the body was located below Jancsi Hill, on a steep, rocky slope, approximately 120 meters down toward the Csarna Valley.

Due to the difficult terrain, additional mountain rescuers were dispatched to the scene, with some arriving from Budapest. Meanwhile, the mountain rescue operations center maintained continuous communication with the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) and the Pest County Police Headquarters. On-site rescuers began surveying the area to identify a safer and more accessible route to reach the location.
With the help of a local resident from Perőcsény, the rescue team found a better access route. As a result, the operations center requested OMSZ and the police to relocate their staging area to Perőcsény to facilitate the recovery operation.

By the evening hours, ten mountain rescuers, police officers, and local helpers had gathered in Perőcsény’s center. Meanwhile, the deceased’s relatives also arrived, as it was strongly suspected that the body belonged to a man from Perőcsény who had been missing since January. (The Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service had previously participated in the two-day search for the missing man at the time.)
Throughout the night, the mountain rescue team's off-road vehicle continuously transported personnel and equipment between Perőcsény and the recovery site.
After the police forensic investigation was completed, the mountain rescuers carried out an exceptionally difficult, multi-hour extraction operation. The body was first carried on foot up to Jancsi Hill, and from there, transported by off-road vehicle to Perőcsény, where it was handed over to the funeral service personnel.

The rescue operation lasted until nearly 2 AM, involving 11 mountain rescuers alongside various authorities working together to complete the difficult recovery.
We express our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
