The Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service was dispatched early Sunday afternoon to assist an injured hiker. The middle-aged woman had been hiking with her family in the Börzsöny Mountains. After reaching Szent Mihály Saddle, they began descending towards Nagymaros along the National Blue Trail. This section of the trail is steep and slippery in several places. The woman lost her footing, slipped, and fractured her ankle.
The duty officer immediately alerted the mountain rescuers on standby in Szokolya, and two rescuers set off for the scene without delay. During coordination, it became clear that the paramedic responding with the Hungarian National Ambulance Service was also a member of the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service.

The mountain rescuers met the ambulance crew at the Köves-mező parking area, where the ambulance personnel transferred their equipment into the mountain rescue off-road vehicle. They then continued together towards Szent Mihály Saddle. From there, they proceeded on foot and soon reached the injured hiker and her family.

Our colleague from the ambulance service examined the patient and immobilized the injured ankle, while the other rescuers assembled the specialised wheeled mountain rescue stretcher. The woman was carefully transported along the narrow hiking trail to the rescue vehicle, which then carried her back to the waiting ambulance at Köves-mező.

The Hungarian National Ambulance Service transported the injured woman to the hospital in Vác for further treatment.
