He was hanging upside down from the fence (2025.10.18.) - 1szokolya20251018

Early Saturday afternoon, the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service received an unusual call. Residents of Szokolya reported hearing a man desperately shouting for help, but they could not determine where the cries were coming from.

As our rescue base is also located in Szokolya, one of our local mountain rescuers immediately set out on foot, while the duty officer alerted nearby standby rescue teams.

Fortunately, everyone was within earshot. Following the man's calls for help, the standby rescuers reached the scene within minutes and found an elderly man hanging upside down from a fence after one of his legs had become caught. Fortunately, his upper body was already resting on the ground, and only his leg remained trapped.

The rescuers immediately requested an ambulance and began freeing the man, successfully releasing him within a short time.

The elderly man had apparently been trying to leave the nursing home but became stuck on the fence. It is important to note that the local nursing home is not a locked facility, and its residents are generally free to come and go.

The mountain rescuers examined the man and found no obvious external injuries, although he appeared confused.

The arriving unit of the Hungarian National Ambulance Service transported him to hospital as a precaution for further examination.
