On Wednesday early afternoon, a group of hikers called for help via the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service SOS line. According to their report, they had started descending from Nagy-Galla on the green triangle trail toward the green plus trail, when one of their members, a woman, misstepped and twisted her ankle. Unable to continue their hike, the group requested assistance.
The mountain rescue duty officer immediately alerted the on-call rescue team as well as the Nagymaros Volunteer Fire Department.

Two mountain rescuers departed from the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service base in Szokolya with an off-road vehicle, while two members of the Nagymaros Volunteer Fire Department also set out from Nagymaros with another off-road vehicle. The teams met in Márianosztra, from where they were able to drive along forestry roads up to the intersection of the Green Plus (Zöld +) and Green Triangle (Zöld ∆) trails. From there, they had to continue on foot for another 200 meters along the trail to reach the injured hiker.
The injured woman was carried on a stretcher to the vehicles and then transported to Márianosztra. From there, her relatives took her in their own car to Vác Hospital for further medical care.
The Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service and the Nagymaros Volunteer Fire Department use shared alert and communication channels to enhance their efficiency in assisting those in need. The two organizations, along with the Kismaros Volunteer Fire Department, have collaborated on numerous occasions to rescue hikers in the Börzsöny mountains.

The mountain rescue duty officer's desk: maps and radios—in this case, the duty officer assisted the on-site units remotely from Budapest.
