At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, an emergency call was received by the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service on the SOS phone line.
The caller said that there were two of them and that they were on the side of Zuvári Hill. The terrain was so slippery and rocky that they didn’t dare to go forward or turn back.
Two on-call mountain rescuers immediately set off for Zuvári Hill and discovered the stranded couple about half an hour later.
The hikers had accidentally strayed from the marked trail and tried to continue on the steep hillside.
After a while, however, the ground became so slippery that they could neither move forward nor turn back.
Fortunately, no special techniques were needed for their rescue: with the help of the two mountain rescuers, they were back on the designated trail and safe within minutes.
Apart from the fright, they were unharmed and were able to continue their hike along the marked path.
The rescuers had barely returned to their base in Szokolya when another emergency call came in — this time from Királyrét.
A young woman had stepped awkwardly and injured her leg.
The mountain rescuers were on the scene within minutes and determined that the injury was not too serious, but quite deep and would require stitches.
After initial treatment, the girl was referred to the hospital in Vác.
