On Tuesday afternoon, a 16-year-old young man went missing from a hiking group in the Magas-tax area. Concerned for his health condition, his relatives called for help on the emergency number 112. In response to the emergency call, units from the Police and the Disaster Management (Vác Professional Fire Brigade) were dispatched to the Cseresznyefa parking lot, and the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service and the Nagymaros Volunteer Fire Brigade were also alerted.
A rescue unit immediately set out in an off-road vehicle from the mountain rescuers' base in Szokolya, and two more mountain rescue units also started from Budapest.
Just as the first units arrived at the Cseresznyefa parking lot, the missing young man appeared, having found the main road leading down and walked along it.
Most of the search teams that were still on the way turned back, with only one mountain rescue unit and the Police remaining on the scene to wait with the young man until his relatives arrived.
