Following an alert from the Pest County Disaster Management, units from the Vác professional fire brigade, the Nagymaros volunteer firefighters, the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service, and the National Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene. The responding teams gathered near the ferry crossing by Highway 12 in Dömös, and from there continued on foot towards the cave.

While most of the rescuers made their way up the steep mountainside, the drone unit of the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service deployed a drone to pinpoint the exact location of the injured hiker.

n site, the mountain rescue medical team provided first aid, stabilizing the woman’s ankle, while their colleagues prepared a special wheeled mountain rescue stretcher. The young woman was then secured onto the stretcher, and rescuers – firefighters and mountain rescuers together – carefully carried her down through the difficult terrain.

At Highway 12, the injured tourist was handed over to the National Ambulance Service, who transported her to the hospital in Vác for further treatment and examination.

Due to its steep and slippery trails, the area around the Remete Cave frequently presents challenges for rescue teams. This latest mission once again demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated teamwork between professional and volunteer responders.
