The Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service’s duty members had just returned to base from a rescue at the Remete Cave when an SOS distress call came through their emergency number. The operator of the Nagy-Hideg-hegy tourist house reported that a German-speaking bicyclist had arrived asking for help for his companion.

The location was quickly identified, and within about twenty minutes, five mountain rescuers in two off-road vehicles arrived at Rakodó. The injured man explained that his bicycle likely became caught on something, causing him to fall over it, and during the fall he somersaulted twice. Upon examination, he complained of pain in several ribs during deep inhalation and had a bleeding injury on his arm.

The mountain rescuers provided medical care, and requested an ambulance from the National Ambulance Service to meet them at the Cseresznyefa parking lot — the closest point accessible by road. They transported the injured man by off-road vehicle while one of the rescuers carried his bicycle. The descent progressed slowly, as the pain from rib injuries made each bump on the forest road difficult.

At Cseresznyefa parking lot, the mountain rescue team handed over the patient to the ambulance crew, who transported him to Vác Hospital for further examinations and treatment.
