Shortly after 4:00 p.m., the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service received an emergency call reporting that a woman had injured her leg while hiking on the road above the Szénpatak Mountain Hut.
The duty dispatcher immediately deployed the two mountain rescuers on duty, who reached the patient within a short time. After assessing her condition, the rescuers immobilised the suspected serious injury, stabilised the patient, and began preparing her for a safe evacuation.
The Hungarian National Ambulance Service, which had been alerted in the meantime, met the mountain rescuers in Királyrét just 35 minutes after the initial emergency call. Following an on-scene medical assessment, the ambulance crew transported the woman to the hospital in Vác for further treatment.
As the incident occurred in a location that was relatively easy to access by vehicle, the rescue operation was completed quickly and efficiently.
The injured woman was an experienced and frequent hiker in the Börzsöny Mountains. It was later confirmed that she had sustained a fracture of the lower leg, requiring surgical treatment.
