Hiker with a leg injury at the Vilma Rest Area
On Saturday afternoon, the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service was called to assist a seriously injured hiker near Csóványos peak. A woman descending from Csóványos slipped near Vilma-pihenő and suffered a serious leg injury.
An Ankle Injury in Királyrét
A woman was injured near the old cellars on the slopes of Vár-hegy.
Fire in the Börzsöny Mountains
A forest fire broke out on Sunday morning on Tamás-hegy, near Szokolya in the Börzsöny Mountains. After a prolonged firefighting operation, the flames were brought under control before they could spread to the nearby pine forest. Despite this, the fire affected a significant area and caused serious damage to the forest.
Joint Patrols for Fire Prevention
During the nationwide fire ban, forestry staff from Ipoly Erdő Zrt. and the Börzsöny Mountain Rescue Service are conducting joint patrols throughout the Börzsöny Mountains to help ensure compliance with the restrictions.

Even on Nagy-Hideg-hegy, temperatures may reach 35°C. The current fire ban must be taken extremely seriously!

Three separate rescue operations took place in the Börzsöny Mountains on Friday. Two young hikers got into difficulty near the Remete Cave after attempting to climb up from the wrong direction and had to be brought down using rope rescue techniques. Two further call-outs, at Vár-nyereg and near János Spring, involved hikers who had suffered ankle injuries.
Heat Warning
Even Nagy-Hideg-hegy is expected to reach 35°C (95°F) this weekend. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are a real danger in the Börzsöny Mountains.
