Warning: wasps’ nest on the OKT

We have received several reports about a wasp nest located directly on the Országos Kék Túra route. The nest is indeed located on a tree along the 17th section of the OKT between Kóspallag and the Törökmező tourist house.

While it may not be particularly dangerous, wasps might perceive a threat if you pass too close to the nest and could attack.

Our colleagues have marked the affected section of the trail with tape from both sides at a distance of about 10 meters. We recommend that hikers temporarily leave the trail at this marked section and use a nearby forestry road, which runs parallel to the trail and is only about two meters away.

We need to purchase something extremely important for the association: a jeep!
Currently, we are using an almost 30-year-old Terrano II, which is on its last legs! We have received HUF 4 million in support (50% funding intensity) from the Active Hungary Program within the Active and Ecotourism Development Center Nonprofit Limited Liability Company. This means we already have half of the estimated HUF 8 million needed for the vehicle.

We need an additional HUF 4 million, though more wouldn’t hurt, as we could choose a newer vehicle, and there will be other costs (emergency lights, equipment, etc.) even if the vehicle is in top condition. We ask everyone to donate according to their ability so we can purchase our rescue vehicle.
